Who ...
A Valleys girl, she’s someone who still harbours Top of the Pops dreams (but with kinder camera angles). She’s never worn high hells (sic), doesn’t own a dress (the last time she did she walked into a room full of mirrors wearing canary telly belly warmers tucked into it which put her off for life ) and has made an album nobody has heard. A philosophy graduate with a couple of musical Grade 8s to her name, as part of her job she does a bit of broadcasting and a lot of moaning. She drives a dirty red car, shares a house with one cat, a gay lodger and three pink walls.![]()
Why ...
Hannah is Magazines Editor for the Western Mail, the national newspaper of Wales. As the token “biggie” she was often asked to write commentary pieces on body issues, particularly in a political context. But nobody ever asked her if she thought girls over a size 16 should wear dogtooth and sleeveless tops. So when she was asked to write a column about her body issues, taking a big swipe at the diet industry and bearing her meaty soul about her love affair with carbs, she didn’t so much as jump at the chance but did a mild saunter. So Diary of a Diet was born, which was since turned into a must-read for women of every shape and size around Wales - and, thanks to the internet, way, way beyond. She’s opinionated, honest, frank and funny - she’s also often sad, her own worst critic and not afraid to say even big girls cry… and also love, love and dance like there’s nobody watching. Her columns are about her battles with food, and lifetime of failed dieting and self-acceptance - scratch that, her columns are about the battles with herself.
